About
manifesto
For Collaboration

How long does a project take?
Most custom commissions require approximately three months to complete, though the exact timeline depends on the complexity of the project. Ceramics is a process-driven craft in which every stage must proceed successfully for a piece to reach its intended result—from drying and bisque firing to glazing and the final firing. Along the way, timelines may also be affected by design discussions, revisions, or the natural behavior of the materials themselves. Clay and glaze are both derived from natural materials. Even when sourced and prepared by established manufacturers, subtle variations can occur from batch to batch or season to season, much like the character of tea harvests. These changes sometimes require testing, adjustments, and additional time to achieve the desired outcome. For these reasons, occasional schedule adjustments are a natural part of the ceramic-making process. Your patience allows each piece to be completed with the care and attention it deserves. Most projects fall between 3 months, depending on complexity. A brand identity with a simple website might take closer to two weeks, while a larger project with UX, UI, and multiple page templates could take longer.
Is it microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe? Will the pottery crack if I pour hot water or boiling soup into it?
Generally, high-fired ceramics are microwave safe. However, if the piece contains metallic accents (such as gold or silver), it must NEVER be put in the microwave! Unless specifically made with heat-resistant clay, we do not recommend putting standard tableware in the oven, as sudden temperature changes (thermal shock) can cause it to crack. Similarly, while normally high-fired ceramics can safely hold hot food and beverages, please avoid "extreme temperature shocks" (e.g., pouring boiling water into a chilled vessel). While handmade ceramics are durable enough for dishwashers, we recommend hand-washing to avoid potential chips or cracks caused by collision with other dishes.
Is the glaze safe?
Yes, rest assured. For all tableware designed for dining, our studio uses lead-free, non-toxic, food-safe glazes, so you can safely use them for your meals and drinks.
Why does the product I received look different in color or shape from the photos?
Handmade ceramics are not mass-produced by machines. Each piece bears unique marks from the throwing and glazing process. Furthermore, during kiln firing, factors such as placement, flame conditions, and temperature fluctuations cause natural variations known as "kiln effects." This makes every piece unique in glaze color, texture, and dimension—which is the true charm of handmade pottery.
If I look closely, I see tiny black spots, pinholes, or uneven glaze. Are these defects?
Not at all! Black spots: These are natural iron deposits in the clay that emerge during high-temperature firing. Pinholes: These are natural occurrences left by air or organic matter escaping from the clay during the firing process. Uneven glaze: Due to the hand-dipping or brushing process, variations in glaze thickness and flow are a natural result of the craft.
How should I wash handmade ceramics? How do I store them if I won’t use them for a while? Can they mold?
Cleaning: Use a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Please avoid steel wool or abrasive scouring pads, as they can scratch the glaze. Storage: After washing, ensure the piece is completely dry before storing it in a cupboard. Since unglazed areas of ceramics are porous and can absorb moisture, storing them in an enclosed, humid space while damp may lead to mold.
